Portillo's - Naperville (Ogden)

Well, in my research, I've found that there are two Portillo's in Naperville.  This one is the one on Ogden Ave.  This one had a style of the '20s, which was a touch more refined and a nice change of pace from all the Bootlegger or gangster decor of the others (not that that's bad, but they seem to have a lot done that way).

I actually got lost here.  As my owner was taking off his jacket, I popped out of his pocket and end up on a chair at a different table from where he was sitting.  It was confusing for us both.  Perhaps that happened because it was Friday the 13th?

Portillo's - Niles, IL

Portillo's.  This one is in Niles, IL.  This time we had hot dogs!  It was St. Patrick's Day.  It was decorated in bootleggers style once again.  Not much else to say about this one.

Another Portillo's.  This time it was the pepper and egg sandwich.  Also, this one is decorated in '50s style, rather than the bootlegging style that so many other Portillo's have.  We got yelled at for taking pictures, I'm not sure why.

Another Portillo's, another gangster decor...  In this one there was a big meeting going on in one of the back rooms.

Portillo's - Crystal Lake

Oh no!  My first noticeable blemish!  I got some of the Giardiniera oil on my forehead.  You can see it in the last picture (of me, anyway) in this post.  This is the first time I've changed my look (albeit, unintentionally) since I got my face!  Woah.

Anyway, food was an Italian Sausage with mozzarella cheese and Giardiniera peppers mix.  It was probably good, but (as you probably gathered by comments at the beginning of this post) I wasn't particularly interested in food at that particular point in time.

Once I was over my distress, we were already back in the car.  Usually I don't talk about car rides in here (except here and here and, well, here) but this was interesting due to the road signs which told us we could only turn right and at the same time that we could only turn left, only to have the road only go left.

Portillo's, Arlington Heights, IL has a theme from the '20s.  Also, today is Valentine's Day, so Happy Valentine's Day everybody!

This time, instead of eating at Portillo's, we ate at Barnelli's.  It's the same restaurant, in the same building - but some Portillo's also have a Barnelli's... usually at Barnelli's you can get salads and pasta and maybe pizza.  We got a BBQ chicken salad.  Parking was fairly packed here.

Now this Portillo's was set up to look like it was from the '30s - not the '50s or '60s.  Otherwise it was pretty much the same as the other two.

Food!

Food smells good!  My owner claims we can't go for any sort of "real" travel any time soon, so he's going to bring me to a bunch of different Portillo's restaurants as he can.  Portillo's are all around Chicagoland, but not too many other places.  The first one I saw was in Elk Grove Village, IL.  Oh man, the smells are amazing.  Hamburgers, hot dogs.  All the decorations were from the '50s and '60s.
