150,000 miles!

In Machesney Park, IL the car my owner was driving hit 150,000 miles on the odometer.  Supposedly that is interesting.  So I mugged it up for a picture with the odometer.  This was right near the roundabout in Machesney Park - I though that was more fun than seeing some digits change.

Starbucks - Rockford

Another Starbucks - once more the owner was reading 1Q84 but also a newspaper.

Portillo's Skokie

Now this Portillo's was set up to look like it was from the '30s - not the '50s or '60s.  Otherwise it was pretty much the same as the other two.

Belvidere Oasis

The Belvidere Oasis is fairly similar to the O'Hare Oasis but I was able to see this one during the day.

As always, I enjoy the fact that there are a lot of cars going by - people traveling.  I like that atmosphere.  Also, it was a warm day and the snow was melting, which was also nice. BUT... I came across a few distant cousins (not TP rolls, but empty doggie-doo rolls) who were being kept locked up - it was hard to look at.  I had to remind myself that they couldn't think.

Anyway - Oasis #2 for Ollie. :|

Yay! Another new coffee place - this one is called Caffiend and it's in Roscoe, IL.

Starbucks, Beloit, WI

Right next to the McDonald's in Beloit is this Starbucks.  Oh, you'll notice that there are are two mugs and some decks of cards, no?  The owner brought his mom along on this particular visit. (and yes, the deck on the right has Cyrillic writing on it)

Caribou Coffee, Glenview

So... apparently there are many different places to get coffee?  This one is called Caribou - in Glenview, IL (not far from the Starbucks I was at, also in Glenview).  I liked it here as well.

Starbucks 72&58

This Starbucks is also in Schaumburg, but it is not Streets of Woodfield.  This one is near where Higgins (72) and Golf (58) intersect.

Starbucks #4 for Ollie!

(the book is 1Q84 by Murakami)

Portillo's Rolling Meadows

Another '50s style Portillo's - Portillo's #2 for Ollie!

McDonald's Beloit, WI

I made it to my second state - Wisconsin.  This time at a McDonald's for coffee, rather than Starbucks.  I didn't realize there were other places for coffee.

Now I want to visit more states.  Which one do you think I should visit next?

Starbucks Vernon Hills

I was starting to get all beat up being carried around by my owner.  So I asked for something to ride in.  He got a new case for me (you can see it in one of the pictures below).  What do you think?

This was the Starbucks on the corner of 45 and Milwaukee in Vernon Hills, IL.  There was an annoying middle-aged man trying to sweet talk the young barista.  Otherwise, it was a perfectly fine evening.

(see me peeking?)

The Glen 10 Theatres

Wow, I saw a movie.  I've never seen a movie before.  This one was called "Contraband" and there were boats and traveling and Kate Beckinsale.  I want to see more movies.  In fact, like I said about traveling, I also want to become the empty TP roll that has seen the most movies ever!

Movie #1 for Ollie!

(that's my owner's hand, I couldn't see from where I was)

Starbucks Glenview, IL

Another Starbucks for coffee.  Ok, I'm starting to get this.  This Starbucks is much smaller than the Streets of Woodfield one, so I can concentrate a bit more.  My owner is reading, I can look around a bit.  It's pretty cold today.

Portillo's - Elk Grove Village

Food!

Food smells good!  My owner claims we can't go for any sort of "real" travel any time soon, so he's going to bring me to a bunch of different Portillo's restaurants as he can.  Portillo's are all around Chicagoland, but not too many other places.  The first one I saw was in Elk Grove Village, IL.  Oh man, the smells are amazing.  Hamburgers, hot dogs.  All the decorations were from the '50s and '60s.
